This is the whole Family Mycology™ framework in plain language. You learn to read your family at two scales, yourself and the whole household, and to see the three kinds of exchange moving between people: what feeds a bond, what composts and clears, and what quietly drains it. Then you learn to tend what you find. Start with yourself at no cost, and add the household when you are ready.
The living network inside you: how you connect, what feeds you and what you feed, and what you let decompose so it can become something useful. Your field is yours to tend, and it can be re-resourced this afternoon.
The whole living system your children grow inside: the soil, the seasons, and the space between everyone in the house. Every person in it is exchanging attention, presence, curiosity, play, and delight all day long.
In you: a network of what you connect to, what nourishes you, and what you are ready to let go of. That is your mycology, and it is yours to tend. When it is resourced, you connect cleanly, you give nutrients from your own fullness, and you compost a hard morning into fuel instead of carrying it into the afternoon.
In your family: the same network, one size up. Every person in the house is exchanging attention, presence, curiosity, play, and delight, or the absence of them, all day long. That is the family ecology, and it is only as strong as the fields of the adults holding it.
Between two parents: two living networks meeting and growing into one. Each of you learns your own instrument. Then you play together. The family field is what that sound becomes.
The work is one practice at two sizes. Start wherever you are standing.
The whole living field: the home, the relationships, the rhythm, the soil your children grow in. The family is an ecology. So are you.
The network inside that field: it links every part, carries nutrients between them, and composts what has finished its work. In a person, your mycology is how you connect, what feeds you and what you feed, and what you let decompose so it can become something useful.
Healthy mycelium makes healthy soil, and healthy soil grows a field that can fruit. The same living pattern runs in you and in your family. Your own field is nested inside the family field. Tending one is tending the other.
You are tending a field. Begin with your own.
The family field grows from it, and grows you back.
Written for a parent of either sex. Three doors into your own field, and each one leads back into the shared one.
Learn the science of your own field as a living network, and how one regulated body becomes the steadying rhythm a whole home draws on. The framework library opens there, in plain language, with every term one tap from its meaning. The essay carries it the rest of the way.
The composting work costs energy, and the field asks different things of you depending on what you have to give today. So the first move is a check, and the check takes ten seconds.
You already carry the raw material: how each person in your house runs, what lights them up, what sets them off, what they reach for when the day goes sideways. The myEcology Family Field Map reads that back as structure. Each parent is mapped as an instrument in their own right, with a pitch and tone as singular as a fingerprint. Then the couple is read as two fields becoming one, and then the whole house. Four rooms open as you go: Charge, Emotional Intelligence, Home Field Advantage, and Family Constellations. What comes back is not a label or a score. It is a living picture of how your family moves, and where it is quietly asking to be tended. You become the expert in your own field first.
Ashley, on the trail
The mother who has recognized that she carries the frequency of the house takes responsibility for the quality of energy she is generating in it, and she does that first by filling her own field. The five layers run from the inside out: the soma, the inner ecology, the biofield, the relational field, the family ecology. When you are resourced, the family field is established from a full well.

Brian, in the pines
Six o’clock is the hard hour. You come in from a long day, the house is already loud, and here is the part no one tells you: whether you clock it or not, your own state makes or breaks the night for everyone in it. My field is the one piece of this house I hold directly. That is the job, and it starts before the door.
Start with yours. It is the fastest lever you have.
Two Fields, One House → essay, comingFungi do three kinds of work in every living field, and the same three run in you and in your house. Each guild is described here at both scales. All three are needed for a field to be whole.
Suppression manages the symptom. Composting takes the pattern apart and returns its energy as capacity. The composting happens first in your own field, and then in the shared one.
Mycology is the key to the ecology. Healthy mycelium makes healthy soil, and healthy soil grows a field that can fruit.
Each parent arrives with a field of their own, with its own gifts and its own tone. In a shared house the two fields meet, thread into each other, and over years become one shared field that both of you are tending, with each of your tones still audible inside it.
In the soil, hyphae from separate networks can meet and fuse, and from that point they run as one network.
The direction runs both ways at once. Your field feeds the family field, and the family field feeds you back. Your partner's field does the same. That is why this is a dance and why it keeps co-evolving: every time one of you re-resources your own field, the shared one changes, and everyone in it changes with it.
Each of you learns your own instrument. Then you play together. The family field is what that sound becomes.

Learn the field for free. Bring your household into the map when the reading becomes useful. Go deeper, or join Ashley in the live cohort, when the map asks for it. Every step is the same relationship, one layer further in.
One place where the framework lives in plain language, where each person in the house is read as an instrument in their own right, and where the day begins with a look at what you have to give. Start with yourself, at no cost. Add the household when you are ready.
The whole framework, open to anyone.
Everything in Learn the Field, and the whole house comes into the map.
Everything in Family, and the map keeps pace with your life.
When you want company in the work, the founding cohort brings you into a small live circle with Ashley, reading real family fields together and carrying the practice into the ordinary week. After the first cohort, The Field Between Us opens as a self-paced foundational course.
A twelve week live cohort with Ashley, for adults tending their own field and the family that grows from it.
Seal your own field first, then the field between you. The two-parent dance, taught as practice rather than theory.
Leave your email and we will tell you when it opens.
myEcology is the front door. A parent learns the field for free, brings the household into the map when the reading becomes useful, and goes deeper, or joins Ashley in the live cohort, when the map asks for it. Every step is a deepening of the same relationship.
The writing stays free. The Living Field, the free field guide, and the essays on Substack carry the two scales as a set: You Are the Node, The Mother as Ecology, and Two Fields, One House, coming. Read them first, or read them alongside the map.
